Hi Everyone!
My name is Sonya and I live in the USA. I am 36 years old and love Westlife to death. I have been happily married for 13 years to a great guy, who lets me be obsessed with Westlife and with Mark! How I came to know about Westlife is a interesting, but long story and if you want to hear it I will be glad to share it with you. Just let me know.
I love all the guys, but I have to say that Mark is my most favorite. He is such an awesome singer and has the most powerful sexy voice that can melt anyones heart. Let's not forget the most beautiful blue eyes and perfectly luscious lips, that can take your breath away with just the very thought of them! Ok, I'm getting carried away, but I can't help it, he's just so beautiful.
I have never seen them in concert or should I say I have never been to a concert of their's in person, because they don't get to tour here in America. I have seen them on DVD in concert, which was just as exciting as seeing them live, NOT! It was exciting to watch though. The one thing about living here in America that I hate, is you can't find any of their merchandise in the stores and that SUCKS big time. I have to order their merchandise off the internet. I hope they can break America one day, so that us USA fans can finally see them live in person!
I absolutely love all their songs, but Written in the Stars holds a very special place in my heart. The words to the song touched me so much, because of how me and my husband met. That is another interesting story, but again very long. I will share it with anyone who would like to hear it. Again, just let me know.
Anyway, I hope to make lots of friends here! Send me a PM message or e-mail me, if you'd like to become friends. I would love to have some great Westlife fan friends to talk about them with. It gets lonely here where I live, because not that many people know about Westlife here. So, nice to meet everyone!
Love your new friend, Sonya

Hello Sonya! That's a fab first post! I would definitely like to know how you came to hear about Westlife I do feel sorry for the US fans, not being able to see the boys live but i'm confident they will break America one day! I think they'll get a film soundtrack or something and it will give them a flying start Maybe your lovely hubby will treat you to a flight across 'the pond' to see them one day before that though BTW, i'm Debs, also 36, married with 6 daughters. I am currently driving them all crazy by playing Westlife over and over. I'm getting ready to see them in Dublin at their 10th Anniversary concert (along with Kat, Leighanne & Lou from this board). Hopefully they'll release it on DVD so you can see it too.

Thanks for the welcome! I really hope to enjoy this site and become friends with everyone here. The site is really nice, so far. I haven't had time to go through every thing yet, but I will!
Ok, Debs I will tell you my story on how I came to know about Westlife and became an obsessed fan. I will try to make it as short as I can. I cannot remember the exact dates and stuff, but I do remember the years these things happen. Here it goes, hope you enjoy!
I was working in a retail store here in the USA called K-mart! It is a department store that sells everything you could possible need to buy. I started working for them in 1995. They had a radio station that would play music overhead, so that the customers could enjoy music while they shop. They played all kinds of songs and songs from different artist, groups, bands, etc... I was a big fan of boybands and would hear songs by the Backstreet boys, 98 degrees and N-SYNC on this radio station at work. Well in early 2000, they started playing this song on the radio there and I would hear it just about everyday. After awhile I started learning the words and would sing along with it. I fell in love with the song and couldn't wait to hear it everyday. I would be so ecstatic when they would finally play it. I keep asking everyone who is that singing that song? No one knew. I knew it wasn't the Backstreet boys, because I had all their albums and this song wasn't on it. It didn't sound like N-SYNC either, but it did sound some what like the group 98 degrees. I did not own a computer at that time, so there was no way for me to search on the net for 98 degrees lyrics, to see if it was one of their songs. So, I gave up on it and just enjoyed listing to the song at work. Then one day they stop playing the song at work and I was going crazy. By the end of 2000, I finally went to my brothers house and ask to use his computer. I searched every song lyrics of 98 degrees and came up empty handed. I finally realized they did not sing the song, so I found a site where you could put part of the lyrics in and it would search for a song with those words. Thank god the store played that song over and over and I was able to learn the lyrics. Well after typing in some lyrics, it came up with a song called "I need you" by a group called Westlife. I am so glad it recognized the words. After finding out who sang that song, I then looked to see if it was on an album and found out it was on an album called Westlife. The next day, while at work, I went to our music section and found the album. I bought it that day! I got home and listened to it and loved it right away. I listened to it over and over for months. At that time, I did not know that they had another album out. I checked our music section all the time, but never saw another album by them for sale in our store. Even though, I loved the album, I wasn't a hardcore fan of theirs just yet. You probably know that here in America, they don't play their videos on TV or their music on the radio. It is hard to become obsessed with a group that you never get to see or read about. So, from 2000-2004 I did not know they had released other albums. I was so clueless on how popular they had become overseas. All I knew is that I loved their Westlife album and that they were amazing singers. Well, in the last part of 2004 I went to shop at a store called McKay's books and music. They sell used CD's and other stuff that people trade in there. As I was looking around, my husband came over to me and said look what I found. He had found 2 of Westlife's other albums Coast to Coast and Unbreakable Vol. 1 The Greatest Hits, that I did not know they had made. I bought them both that day. After listening to the albums, I became a huge fan. I wasn't a big internet fan at that time, so I got on my brothers computer again and looked them up. I did not know they had so many albums out. I still didn't come across their personal website yet, so I still did not know much about them. I did not know who sang what part of the songs. I had an idea who I thought was singing which part and later I found that the only one I got right was Shane. All I knew is that I loved the 3 albums I had of theirs and wanted to find all of their albums. I started going to my local record stores and tried to find those other albums I had seen online, but never found any of their albums, except the first one. I could not understand why we sold their first album in the stores, but not any of the other ones. I was so disappointed. Then finally in 2005, I got internet service and started searching the net for information on the guys. I was an idiot and didn't know much about searching the net. I did come across their official website and did learn a few things about them. Like that Byran had left the band, that was a shock to me. I was still not an obsessed fan of theirs yet at this time. I loved their albums and was a big fan of the group, but didn't connect with them on a personal level. It took me another year to find the website Amazon.com, to finally buy all their albums. I also learned they had DVD's out and bought some of them as well. I knew they were amazing in videos and were awesome singers. I knew they were good looking and that they were funny, but didn't know about their personal lives. It wasn't until I came across youtube.com that I started seeing who they really were and fell in love with them, especially Mark! I have missed so much of their career and lives. I always liked the group and was a fan, but it wasn't until about the middle of 2006 that I became obsessed with them. I have learned so much about them since then and love everything about them. They are apart of my world now and I can't live without them. I listen to their music everyday. I wish I could have been there from the beginning and experienced all the ups and downs with them, but all I can do is enjoy the journey with them now. They are the best group in the world and I am so glad I got the chance to become one of their biggest fans now and forever. I owe it all to that store I worked in, because if they had not hired me, I may not have ever heard their song and got to experience such an amazing journey of discovering a truly awesome group of guys! I will always be thankful for that!
I hope you enjoyed my story. Hope it wasn't too long and didn't bore you to death!

Thank you all for the nice compliments. You are all very sweet. I was happy to share this story with everyone. Thanks for the welcome Leighanne! I am having lots of fun here. I agree with you both, I have always said that Simon Cowell could get them on American Idol. I don't understand him at all. Here he is involved with the biggest and best boyband that ever was created and he won't help them break America ! He is very powerful over here and can make it happen. He just makes me so angry sometimes.

Couldn't agree more. Whats Simon thinking (NOT thinking??) Those of us here in the US of A love these guys anyway. Never thought I 'd become addicted to a singing group like this but here I am. I have every CD I can find and looking for more. Living near Las Vegas I'm even more disappointed that someone in this "Entertainment Capitol" doesn't wake up and make it worth their while although I read that they hated their initial time here. We'd really like to show you a better side of us. There are many other worthwhile activities here than "show biz". Some of us would be proud and pleased to keep them low profile and show them the "other side". One last thing and I'll go away. I've read many comments that are negative for narrowminded reasons. How can you, if you are a music lover, not love and appreciate voices like these? NEVER EVER should sexual orientation, religion or politics have a place of importance in the music world. Nuff said. countrywestlife2
